Famous for it’s vast collection of modern and contemporary art in the heart of Paris, The Centre Pompidou is not just a museum but rather a living, moving space for artistic creation and expression. This year, The Centre Pompidou celebrates it’s 40th anniversary with tours, workshops, festivals, shows, performances, and other exciting events across 40 French cities in more than 75 partner venues.

Starting this month, and until early 2018, the Centre will host a series of decentralized events that will foment artistic expression, “illustrate the vitality of cultural institutions that share the Pompidou spirit, and enrich a long history of shared projects that serve the creation of the arts,” according to Serge Lasvignes, President of The Centre Pompidou.

The anniversary year opens strong at the Centre in Paris with the first-ever comprehensive look at the work of American artist Cy Twombly as well as the Hors Pistes cinematic festival. Events in Paris will include exhibitions on Eli Lotar, Francois Morellet, Alberto Giacometti, Pablo Picasso, live show performances Campo Santo and Kein Licht, as well as children’s transformation workshops and the graphic art exhibition “Mon Oeil”.

In the cities of Bourges, Lyon, Marseille, Paris, and Strasbourg, Centre Pompidou’s Institute for Acoustics, Music Research and Coordination will present five artistic projects combining music, theatre, dance, opera, and visual arts, based on a close collaboration with the cities’ show venues.
