Every year the CHANEL Bijou eyewear collection draws inspiration from a code that’s dear to the House. For the fourth edition, it’s the turn of the camellia – Gabrielle Chanel’s favourite flower – to take pride of place. Presented during the Métiers d’art Paris in Rome 2015/16 show last December, the designs compose a poetic style that’s Romanesque, baroque and bursting with character.

With a nod to Italian glamour, the four sunglasses frames are ultra-feminine and extra-large: cat-eye – very angular or rounded – maxi-square and retro butterfly. As for the two optical glasses, they play the ultimate femininity card.

The tones are intense – black, burgundy, navy blue – or delicately transparent: tortoiseshell, sea green or grey.

Camellias crafted in mainly gold metal, but also in silvery and ruthenium shades, bloom majestically over the temples of the glasses. With the utmost subtlety, the double C is found nestled on some of the camellias.

The precious designs in the Bijou 2016 collection are an ode to femininity and the dolce vita*. Discover them in boutiques from May 2016.
