Esteban Cortazar Paris Spring 2017

This Spring Summer ’17 Esteban Cortazar present a woman questig and reaching for light in dark times. The collection unifies opposing energies into one embracing dialogue. The concept for Esteban collection starts from memories of surfers and skaters on Miami’s South Beach are present alongside a profoundly moving journey to Tiruvannamalai, and the dreamscape of Arunashala (the Mountain of Shiva).

The fiber glass of surf boards, toweled linens, and Cortazar’s classic neoprene cady ruffles converse with the breathtaking colours and the compassionate drape of indian saris are focal point in the collection.

Romantic bomber jackets with lyrical movement belie their aggressive origins, and pure graphic lines draw peace signs. Patchwork graffitied leather appliqués echo the shape and wisdom of Tibetan scripture . Pieces are bonded and meticulously hand-stitched to one another – an analogy of the interconnectedness of life. A soulful nocturne of sequins, embroidery and the house’s signature hardware render an imagined cartography of the night sky.
