It is a garden of plants and animals. A garden populated with signs, symbols and archetypes evoking and recalling distant worlds. In this magical place, curious hands play with matter and mix it with the unconscious. They mold it according to subtle and joyful intuitions. As in an alchemy laboratory, substances are selected, analyzed, decomposed and reacted. A process in which the power of the imagination forces the inertia of reality.
The garden of the alchemist is an anti-modern laboratory because it refutes certain principles of a scientism characterized by rigidity and determinism. It is the place where one overcomes the mortifying logic of non-contradiction. In this context, dualities (man / woman, essence / appearance, shadow / light, immanence / transcendence, body / spirit, good / evil, interior / exterior), attempts at classification and strict separation disintegrate.
This unit is embodied in the Ouroboros, an ancient Egyptian symbol representing a snake that eats its tail. This symbol contains in itself all the paradoxes: it destroys and creates in a process of self-renewal which encompasses the opposite. An androgynous, hybrid and illegitimate revolt that undermines the foundations of the lethal rigidity proper to dichotomous thinking.
