The fantastic New Guinea Birds of Paradise instill an avian inspiration into the Vionnet Autumn-Winter 2017-18 collection.

The light and sculptured robes of the season, worn on fine knit collars, are characterized by a romantic alternation of sublime draperies and abundant trompe-l’oeil effects, each reinterpreting in their own way the iconic cut of Vionnet.

Concession to the industrial world, the spinning of the drill inspires patterns of dresses that wrap around the bodies in combinations with luxuriant colors, in multiple thicknesses of muslin, silk cady and crepe de chine. The knotted and asymmetrical “robe” silhouettes abound, while the tailoring becomes languorous, satin-belted or carved in aerial georgettes, and enhanced with strips of sequins.

On the historic occasion of Vionnet’s first fashion show in Milan, the House pays homage to Italy’s rich cultural landscape, embodied by the Casa degli Atellani.
