GQ and Gucci today announced the launch of The Performers, a new five-part video series produced by Dylan Jones, editor-in-chief of the British edition of GQ. This series documents the pilgrimage of five influential men to unexpected places that formed their mind and vision. Intimate and cinematic, each episode opens a dialogue on the creativity between the protagonist and the place to explore a personal source of inspiration.

The first two episodes feature Bobby Gillespie, lead singer of the group Primal Scream, and Massimo Bottura, a Michelin-starred Italian chef, both dressed in Gucci creations designed by Alessandro Michele.

“This collaboration was a wonderful opportunity to present The Performers, these important and talented cultural figures who inspire us, these referees of good taste, class and creativity,” commented Dylan Jones, “We look forward to spreading it to the huge global audience of GQ.”

The first episode introduces Bobby Gillespie on a journey to Tangier in Morocco in the footsteps of his personal hero, the French writer and poet Jean Genet, who wrote his last novel, Un Captif amoureux. The film culminates in a plan of Bobby facing the sea, immersed in a poetic observation of the life of his hero.

The second episode presents Massimo Bottura in a colorful dialogue on Italy, jazz and creativity. He stopped in several places in Milan and Modena to talk about his penchant for jazz: “I have been passionate about jazz since I was 14 years old, when I started collecting records. Once you fall into jazz, you can not get out of it.”
