INSIDE A DIOR BEAUTY DREAM

In his time, Christian Dior said : “Women, with their intuitive instinct, understood that I dreamed not only of making them more beautiful, but happier too“. A dream that Peter Philips continues to uphold with beauty.

Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director for Christian Dior Makeup, explains : “I always strive to create something new, something I’ve never seen before. I always want to do better and differently than what has already been done”.

A passion for innovation that he quenches fully by dreaming the Dior products of tomorrow and creating the runway makeup for each new season.

Backstage, Dior Makeup Artists continue to create unique looks and enhance the beauty of models. Using their skills and drawing inspiration from their professional tips, a range of expert products has been created to maximize beauty in an instant: Backstage Pros.

For Spring 2017 Couture, Mr. Philips fell in love with Romance and Poetry, as the starred-tears for this new Beauty collection.

Philips kept the rest of the face simple, with a wash of lip color (Dior Addict Lacquer Stick in #550 Tease, a new formula forthcoming from the brand in March of 2017) and golden glow around the eyes.

He used the words “pretty,” “tomboy” and “symbolic” to describe various aspects of the show and its accompanying makeup looks and also emphasized how the model casting and the “attitudes of the girls gives a street credibility.”

Whether solo or in constellations, star-shaped spangles lit up the eyes of the Dior models.

This poetic beauty look is also a reference to Christian Dior’s lucky star, which he always kept in his pocket and which catapulted him to the apex of the world of haute couture.

This season, the Dior woman is a beauty with a light and pure complexion.

The finesse of the skin’s texture is redefined in order to better highlight it, and the cheeks reshaped using a powdered pink shade.

This beauty extends to the eye area which is illuminated with star-shaped spangles placed according to the model’s personality; whether as a constellation on the cheekbones stretching up to the temples, or on the inner corner of the eyes or the center of the lower lid.

The mouth is natural, smoothed first with Lip Sugar Scrub then lightly graced with Dior Addict Lacquer Stick applied in the middle of the lower lip.

Nails are kept discreet with a Diorlisse Abricot base, and, lastly, the hair wavy, left long and free or carefully fastened in place.

Backstage before the show, the models took part in a rather unusual fortune-telling exercise, one performed by a mechanical automaton.
