Russia’s first department store’s story starts with two Scottish merchants Andrew Muir and Archibald Mirrielees who founded “Muir & Mirrielees”, trading company in Russia. With ambition to open modern department store alike those in Europe and United States they bought a building on the Teatralnaya Ploshad in Moscow.

The seven-storey building, in European neogothic style, was finally completed in 1907, making “Muir & Mirrielees” Russia’s largest department store and the third biggest department store in Europe after Harrods and Selfridges.

In the Soviet period the store gained its current name – TSUM, Central Department Store and today TSUM, with its 70,000 square meters, is the largest department store in Eastern Europe. It offers ready-to-wear, shoes and accessories collections of the world’s leading fashion brands including Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Chanel, Fendi, etc. Jewellery and watches by Rolex, Patek Philippe, Hublot, etc and porcelain and homeware by Baccarat, Christofle, as well as perfumery and cosmetics of the leading brands.

Modern TSUM stays true to its innovative spirit, throughout its anniversary year it offers customers the most advanced services: Apple Pay and mobile points-of-sale; innovative digital windows, online shopping, and a unique womenswear concept store.

TSUM’s mission is to be one of the capital’s landmarks. TSUM has been the first store in Russia to actively make itself appeal to foreign tourists, primarily from China.

In line with its pioneering spirit TSUM was the first retail player in the industry to revise its price policy and introduce transparent strategy of “Milanese prices”, cutting down the price level to match prices in Milan and Paris boutiques and department stores. This year TSUM will also become the pilot store to offer its customers Tax Free refund under dedicated governmental program.
